About City Walks
What are City Walks?
City Walks are fundraising events taking place in ten cities across the UK, hosted by Lloyds Banking Group. These events support Lloyds Banking Groups charity partners, Crisis and Simon Community (in Northern Ireland).
Where are the City Walks?
City Walks will take place in Bristol, London, Newport, Chester, Birmingham, Leeds, Manchester, Halifax, Glasgow and Edinburgh.
When are the City Walks?
The 2026 City Walks will take place through the first two weeks of June 2026. Exact dates are TBC.
How long are the City Walks?
You can opt for either a 12-mile or 20-mile route.
Where does each City Walk start and end?
Each City Walk will start and end in the same Lloyds Banking Group hub. These locations will be communicated in your registration confirmation.
What are the routes?
The routes for each City Walk are available under the “Resources” tab.
Can I change my registration details?
Please email the Charity of the Year inbox if you wish to change any registration details e.g. contact information, location, route length or you need to withdraw from the event.
How fit do I need to be for this challenge?
We recommend a moderate level of fitness for this event. You can access a training guide under the “Resources” tab.
What happens if I can’t finish the walk?
We ask everyone to be aware of their own abilities during each event. If you feel that you need to withdraw, please let an event lead know and then return to your LBG hub.
Can I bring my dog?
You are welcome to bring your dog if you are confident in their abilities to walk the route you have selected. Your dog must remain on a lead, and they are entirely your responsibility. Please note that not all LBG hubs will allow dogs inside.
Can I bring friends and family?
Unfortunately, this event is restricted to LBG employees.
Can I take part as a contingent/contract employee?
Absolutely – if you have a LBG email address and will be employed by LBG at the time of the event you can take part.
Do I need to bring any equipment?
We recommend you bring water, snacks and sun and rain protection with you on your walk. You are welcome to bring any additional equipment such as hiking poles if you would like to. 12 or 20 miles is no small feat, so make sure you are wearing a good pair of walking shoes.
Can I participate as part of a team?
This is an individual event, but we welcome teams taking part together. Everyone will need to register individually.
Does the City Walk count as my Day to Make a Difference?
City Walks is a fundraising event, not volunteering. Please ensure that you speak to your Line Manager about your participation in City Walks and seek their guidance how they would like you to record any time that needs to be recorded.
About Fundraising
Is there an overall fundraising target for the event?
Your fundraising target is £100, but the sky is the limit!
How should I fundraise?
There are many ways to fundraise! Reach out to friends and family about your challenge, you can host small events such as a pub quiz, bake sale, sweepstake. You can also see our Fundraising Guide under the “Resource” tab.
What happens if I can’t raise the amount set?
If you are concerned about not being able to reach your fundraising target, please reach out to the $Charityoftheyear inbox sooner rather than later, and we can support you!
Can I change my fundraising goal?
Your fundraising goal on JustGiving is customisable, so feel free to raise it from £100!
Where is my fundraised money going?
All money raised through City Walks will go directly to Crisis, to fund the Changing Lives Grant Programme and to support the nine Skylight Centres.
Can I apply for Matched Giving?
You can! All colleagues are eligible for £500 of Matched Giving funds each calendar year. You can find a step-by-step guide on SharePoint.
What is Gift Aid?
Opting into Gift Aid allows Crisis to claim back the tax paid within your donation. This means that for each £1 donated, an extra 25p is donated to Crisis. This is available to all UK taxpayers.
Can I fundraise in cash?
Whilst you can fundraise in cash, we would recommend sticking to donations through JustGiving. This allows you to track your progress easily and for the funds to go directly to Crisis.
When do I have to stop fundraising?
You can continue your fundraising after the event! Many supporters will be inspired by your efforts, so we recommend keeping your page active for some time after your City Walk.
Am I meant to log my City Walk on the Volunteering Portal?
City Walks is a fundraising event, not a volunteering event, so you don’t need to log the activity anywhere.
